Dear Towner County Medical Center Customer,

Recently you received a letter from CCI Management outlining your current outstanding self pay balance at Towner County Medical Center along with an offer to provide a one-time only, 20% discount for payment in full of your outstanding account. Judging from the phone calls we have received since this letter was mailed, it is apparent that the letter resulted in serious misunderstandings by many of our customers. Unfortunately, many of our customers got the impression that their accounts had been turned over for collection when in many cases, they hadn’t even received the bill and they certainly were not past due. It is understandable how a customer who pays his bill every month, year after year could have been offended. The purpose of this letter is to apologize for any confusion or offense the original letter may have caused and to offer a clearer explanation of the billing.

Over the years, accounts receivable at Towner County Medical Center have grown steadily due to inconsistent credit and collection policies. Some of our accounts are very old, and although payments are made on a regular basis, the repayment period extends for many years. Our organization has reached the conclusion that our role in the community is to focus on providing quality health care services and that we aren’t very good at the “banking business.” Therefore, we made the decision to extend the discount offer to all self pay customers at TCMC regardless of how old the account is. We are hoping to significantly reduce the level of accounts receivable within the TCMC system with this offer and then move forward with a new credit and collection policy that is consistent with other health care providers in the region. These changes more closely align the needs of our business with the provision of healthcare. In the future, you will be receiving statements from TCMC for any new charges, just as you have in the past.
