Towner County Living Center

A COMFORTABLE HOME

  • Built in 1966 and expanded to provide medical care to 49 residents, the facility, formerly Resthaven Healthcare Center, afforded the residents and staff with minimal comfort throughout much of the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s until the facility was purchased by the community in 1997.

  • Along with community ownership came much concern about living conditions, and so an extensive renovation of the entire home was undertaken, as well as a reduction in the number of licensed nursing beds. Such a move affords the residents with much more living space than had been previously available.

  • With an attention to detail, and an emphasis on providing the resident with a comfortable homelike environment, the Towner County Living Center proudly opens its doors and looks forward to your visit.

TENDER LOVING CARE

A well trained nursing staff, along with positive human interaction, is a potent combination that the Towner County Living Center is proud to offer to every resident in our facility. It is with a commitment to provide ’Tender Loving Care’ to every resident that our staff has been trained, and this skill is put to use 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Training and continuing education is another one of our strengths, with numerous onsite workshops conducted by our Quality Assurance Coordinator, as well as an active participation in seminars put on by the North Dakota Long Term Care Association. We find little excuse for not providing the most up-to-date geriatric care available.
Aside from the general education that we provide to everyone on the nursing staff, a great deal of time is spent tailoring care to meet the individual needs of everyone that comes through our doors. With the development of individual care-plans, not only can the nurses and assistants provide you with the best available care, but our Dietary Consultant, Social Services Coordinator, and Activity Director can tailor those aspects to provide a complete continuum of geriatric care.

Towner County Living Center is proud of its nursing staff and would encourage you to visit with us at anytime.
The care that our nurses and assistants provide is so much more than just the dispensing of medications, but is an all encompassing involvement in the physical, mental, and social well-being of the resident. This commitment stems from the hard work of the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and most importantly, the Social Worker and Social Service designee.

SOCIAL SERVICES

The social well-being of the residents and their families is so very important, and we are fortunate to have a licensed Social Worker on site. By doing so, we have opened up an important channel of communication and feedback between the residents, their families, and the staff. Having a social worker with in the facility is often times the first contact that a potential resident has with our facility. Not only do we pride ourselves on having someone in this capacity as a strong advocate for the resident, but she is an individual that many residents have come to call a friend.
TCLC cares deeply for its residents, and believes in providing the utmost care, and support, to everyone that joins our community.

MEDICAL EXPERTISE

When it comes to providing our residents with access to physicians and medical professionals, the Towner County Living Center prides itself on its ability to deliver these services in a timely manner. To ensure the best possible care for the residents, a physician assistant typically visits the facility on a weekly basis, while the physicians alternate their visit to ensure an almost weekly visit. Such a high level of contact, allows the medical staff from TCMC to stay abreast of any health issues the residents at TCLC may have.
With so many visits from the medical staff, TCLC has designed and equipped an onsite examination room, to provide the tools and space for the physicians and physician assistants to work, while avoiding the nuisance that traveling to and from the clinic for routine treatment causes.
Aside from physician visits, the Towner County Living Center takes great strides to ensure that all medications are properly handled and managed. With the assistance of the medical center’s fulltime Pharmacist, medications are delivered, tracked, and monitored so that no errors are made.
Finally, it is our pleasure to offer every resident the services of a Physical Therapist. Just as with the above professionals, the residents are seen by the same individual time and again to make sure that proper therapies are given, and that nothing is missed. To assist the residents, and the therapist, a large room has been set aside and equipped with all of the most important tools needed to ensure an individuals well being.

ACTIVITIES

Whether it be basketball, bingo, bowling, bread baking, fishing, singing, or home interior decorating parties, the Towner County Living Center offers every resident a wide selection of activities to take part in. With a fulltime Activity Director, and two assistants, there is something to do throughout the day and into the evening, everyday of the week.
Aside from what residents take part in here at the facility, outings are frequently scheduled, allowing the individual to do a bit of traveling. Typically residents head out to the local fishing hole or to local museums and art shows, while also taking frequent trips to the Dairy Queen for a cool refreshing treat.
